In short Music Scroller is a Musicians Autocue system. |
Music Scroller does exactly that, it scrolls music up the PC screen, optionally synchronized with a backing track ( backing tracks can be mp3, wav, wma or midi files ). If you don't want to use backing tracks, then Music Scroller can scroll your song information (Chords, Lyrics, manuscript notation, guitar tabs, etc ) up the screen at a pre-determined speed, or can scroll Page by Page, just like turning the pages of a book, all controlled with a single footswitch. Click the button below for full instructions on obtaining and connecting a footswitch. |
Do not despair if the songs in Music Scroller are not to your taste, You can easily use Music Scroller for any song you choose absolutely free, just download the chords and lyrics or guitar tabs or manuscript for the song you want, optional download a midi, and use music scroller for that and any other songs you wish. |
The Developers of Music Scroller realise that a musicians hands are usually busy, so Music Scroller was designed to be as automatic as possible, with the optional footswitch an entire gig of 3 sets of 30 songs each, can be scrolled and played ( with synchronised backing tracks if required ) by the pressing of one footswitch, without the foot switch then just the Keyboard Space bar. |
For the novice musician there is an inbuilt guitar and keyboard chord library, and the guitar chord fingering for the chords in a song can be displayed below the scrolling chords and lyrics. |
Songs can be selected to display and scroll in three ways:- Selected from a database of songs ( sorted by Artist or Title ), Automatically selected in sequence from a user defined playlist ( there are 3 playlists, each one with up to 30 songs ), From the Quick find buttons, this is a user defined screen of 5 sets of 48 buttons ( 240 in total ), any song can be assigned to any button |
Music Scroller comes ready populated with 100 classic hit songs ready to play, but that's not all, users of music scroller can upload and download songs ( with the written chords and lyrics and the backing track ) ready to use, from the Music scroller website absolutely free. |
Music Scroller does not use any special files. The displayed file is simply a Rich Text File (RTF) these are written using Word or Wordpad ( Word pad in included all version of windows), you decide how to present the song information, Chords with the Lyrics below the chords, Guitar tabs, traditional notes on staves, even pictures. The Backing tracks can be mp3, wma, wav or midi files. You simply place the files for songs in a folder, enter the song info into the list of songs, then set up the scrolling parameters. |
Perhaps you don't want a full backing track, Music Scroller has a library of 50 Rhythm's you can play along with. |
One click Transpose the chords in the displayed RTF file ( Plus or Minus 1 semitone steps ) |
Music Scroller has a Background music feature:- Background music files can be played at random from any folder on your PC, when you select a song to play live and start the scrolling, the background music automatically stops. Background music can be set to restart automatically when you finish playing a set. |
Unlike a lot of software, Music Scroller was created in the UK and has a very comprehensive set of help files that can be displayed and printed |
For the backing tracks, simply connect the audio out of the PC to a sound system or PA system. |
So in a nutshell:- No more straining to read scraps of paper in a darkened room, no more struggling to turn the page, No more lost sheets of chords and lyrics, no more forgetting the chords or lyrics half way through a song.
Band use:- Take the scenario where you play in a five piece band, and you do or don't use backing tracks. Music Scroller is invaluable. Extend the Music Scroller display from the laptop to as many external video monitors as you wish ( even one per band member). The laptop may even be controlled by the sound mixing person or any other band member. So all band member are "singing from the same hymn sheet", not only do all band members have the chords and lyrics, they know what song they are playing next, and Music Scroller can display any other dialogue or prompts that you might find useful for your performance. |
If you don't want your audience to see Music Scroller, you can use an external PC screen in a foldback speaker cabinet , in front of you on stage. Or use a small 7" monitor and mount it on your mike stand
Using a touch screen laptop Although Music Scroller can be used with any PC or laptop, it is ideally suited to touch screen laptops. With touch screen laptops, the screen can be rotated and folded down over the keyboard, turning it into a tablet. This is ideal as the "Tablet" will now sit perfectly on a music stand. The picture to the left shows a touch screen laptop in tablet mode sat on the music stand of a piano. Remember that scrolling can be started with a foot switch or by simply touching the touch screen.
